Obama's AccomplishmentsObama’s Accomplishments, Time to Review and Renew
As the election season progresses now is the time to review the accomplishments of our President over the past four years, whom upon entering office had faced the most major economic crisis since the Great Depression. Though he has also faced a highly partisan Congress, our President has managed to pass sweeping changes in improving the lives of everyday Americans who have struggled to keep their jobs, families and communities together against the moneyed forces that have sought to strip away the fabric of empowerment of our middle and working class Americans. View this package of successes, pass it along, and be proud of the accomplishments made by us all who chose a man to lead us to be the change we have been waiting for. Please also view the Obama -Biden Campaign website at Barackobama.com for more up to date information on his goals for the future of the nation and how you can help him achieve these goals for the next four years. Listen to the ScienceThere was a time when the American Scientist had the highest public support and credibility. The University don was looked upon as an intelligent, thoughtful, unbiased voice, if somewhat disassociated from the general public. However that was also a time when politics did not seem to require scientific advice. Scientists supported the base of American industry through innovation and creation, and seldom were heard from in public debate. All that probably changed with the invention of the Atomic Bomb and the discovery that DDT poisoning of our environment was leading to the extinction of the American Bald Eagle. Scientists were suddenly thrust to the front of political debate in their new role of warning the public and politicians of the consequences of their actions. In the rough and tumble of political debate and the ever changing spotlight of the news media, many scientists found themselves overwhelmed and unprepared. The rigorous tools of scientific inquiry, which serves the method of growing our knowledge of the natural world, are of little consequence in the open arena of public opinion. Modern society has a greater need today of dispassionate scientific advice than ever before. We now know of the limitations of the earth and natural systems, and we have abundant evidence that mankind alters the world every day, by building cities and powering our ever growing societies. The long proven methodology of science can help with these questions. Indeed, no other part of human society seems capable of even approaching these issues. Science, unfettered, can deliver to society advice needed to build a responsible management of the world. The Atomic Bomb, DDT, nuclear power plants, oil refining technologies, are all the products of scientists. But they are also the products of political and industrial decisions. It is extremely important that the ability of scientists to deliver knowledge and useful advice not be coupled with the horrendous misuse of those products by politicians. Listen to the scientists. Their advice is needed now more than ever. |
